Gimpo International Airport, the first international gateway in Korea, has evolved alongside the nation's modern and contemporary history.

In 2023, Design Group Mecca established the comprehensive master concept for the international terminal, aiming to deliver a unified spatial experience as Seoul's representative international gateway.

Building upon this vision, we applied the concept "Beginning of Seoul" to the entire journey—from the arrival concourse to the arrival hall. Our goal was to reinforce the unique identity of Gimpo International Airport and create a powerful spatial experience that naturally draws passengers in and invites them to linger.

The four key zones—the arrival concourse, immigration area, welcome zone, and baggage claim—previously suffered from aging facilities and a lack of spatial cohesion. To resolve this, we designed a unified "Arrival Journey" that seamlessly connects these areas into a single, intuitive flow.

The aesthetic direction is defined by "pure serenity," "restrained elegance," and "organic nature," blending a calm atmosphere with a futuristic vision of Korea. The design aims to evoke excitement for the city while providing a soothing environment with warm, gentle tones to relieve the fatigue of long-distance travelers.
