Client: The War Memorial of Korea

Typology: Public / Monument

Area: 2,600 sqm

Location: Seoul, South Korea

Completion: March, 2026

We are deeply honored to have been awarded the commission for the spatial design of the "Memorial for Fallen USFK Service Members during the Korean War after the Armistice." Our design direction seeks to translate the profound significance of the ROK-U.S. alliance—a partnership spanning more than half a century—into a physical form that honors the shared growth of both nations. We aim to reflect how the prosperity of our two countries was built upon the noble sacrifices made to protect the fundamental value of freedom.

Under the theme "The Towers of Alliance," the design commemorates the U.S. service members who have served since the Armistice. In place of a traditional entrance, the site features a fluid, rhythmic arrangement of pillars. These pillars do not merely stand as markers of the past; rather, they symbolize the rising heights of peace and prosperity achieved through the alliance, physically manifesting an ascending strength rooted in the sacrifices of the fallen. The interplay of minimalist concrete surfaces, curvilinear water features, and the natural landscape fosters a serene and contemplative environment. Integrated lighting ensures the memorial remains a luminous symbol of the alliance’s enduring future, projecting a message of unity and progress both day and night.
