The project begins with a genuine purpose that aims to enhance the mobility efficiency and the economy enhancement for the local community of Wirye city. Wirye city is one of newly developed satelite cities around the capital Seoul. Providing the first modern tram in Korea for Wirye city means the system will become a model system for other satelite cities around Seoul. The team started the project keeping with the mind that there should not be more boring or mundane, so called, public designs for 21st century Korea. ​Wirye tram has to provide a joyful, impressive and proud environment for the people, and it needs a thoughtful design strategy making that environmental goal happen. Newly born city 'Wirye' is geographically enclosed, so the new tram system will provide a chance to overcome its geographical challenge and a chance to become more open to other neighbor cities including Seoul.
