Chuncheon Launches Traveler-Centered Rest Area ‘Chuncheon Travel Island’ on April 21

Chuncheon Launches Traveler-Centered Rest Area ‘Chuncheon Travel Island’ on April 21

The facility is a newly introduced rest area exclusively for travelers, created by remodeling the former luxury goods center, which had ceased operation last year. Chuncheon Travel Island was designed using motifs from Chuncheon’s iconic island tourism destinations, including Nami Island, Hajungdo, Sangjungdo, Goguma Island, and Bungeo Island. The project also aims to emphasize Chuncheon’s image as a lakeside city and to promote a new tourism brand identity as the “City of Islands.” The space features a full glass façade, offering a sense of openness and a comfortable rest area that is easily accessible to everyone. A tourism information desk is staffed to assist visitors, and screens will vividly showcase the major attractions of Chuncheon. Large posters, maps of tourist destinations, and books will also be provided so that visitors can easily view local attractions and festivals at a glance. In addition, to help visitors cope with sudden weather changes, umbrellas and raincoats will be available through an honor-based rental service, which allows users to return the items on their next visit. Chuncheon Travel Island is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, except on Chuseok and Lunar New Year’s Day. Kim Si-eon, Head of the Tourism Policy Division, stated on the 17th. “We hope that the newly launched Travel Island becomes a special space where visitors can experience the unique charm of the Chuncheon region.”
